Las Yamahas is a project that utilizes only Yamaha keyboards and drum machines. A mix of 3 keyboards, some stock beats, and wah and echo, Las Yamahas has a strange ambiance; at times grooving but also wandering off to a watery, out-there place. It has a bit of a soundtrack vibe, complete with some straight FX patches, including gunshots, wind, etc. A side kicks with an alien dub stomp’r, slow disco thump against detuned keys, space underwater. B side is one long slab, starting with string stabs and organ sweeps, before falling into a chill drift with down-home bass in the middle section. Timpani rhythms collide with echo’d beats, organ peaks out from the corner, with heavy echo constantly seeping in.
